We believe every child deserves a safe and comfortable place to sleep well and dream big.
Beds for Kidz is a partnership between Neighbors Helping Neighbors and the Mission Team at First Methodist Church Greensboro-Lake Oconee, with the generous support of Social Circle Ace Home Center, our exclusive lumber provider.
Since launching in May 2021, dedicated volunteers have built and delivered over 900 beds to children across Greene and Putnam counties, giving them more than just a place to sleep—they’re providing comfort, dignity, and hope.
We’re devoted to this mission of love. Every smile on the face of a child, or the relief of a grateful parent, reminds us why this work matters. Those moments bring just as much joy to our hearts as they do to the families we serve.
The Problem & The Answer

The Problem
A huge number of children in Greene and Putnam Counties are living below the poverty line. Many of those children do not have a bed to sleep in. They sleep on the floor, on a sofa or on a bed with 3 or more others. We recently delivered beds for two children, ages 4 and 6, who share the same sofa. Teachers report children falling asleep in class. They report children who can’t focus because of a lack of good sleep. Not having the ability to get a restful night’s sleep can impact their growth, their education and, eventually, their entire future. Imagine if that was someone you love.

The Answer
Beds for Kidz has stepped in to help alleviate this problem. We network with various organizations throughout both counties to identify the children who need beds. Both school systems as well as Victory Train, ATLAS, Putnam Christian Outreach, social workers from both counties and dedicated individuals have identified children we can help. The need is way more acute than we would ever have imagined. In just 8 months of beginning this mission, we have delivered over 100 beds to children in need. There are many more that we have not yet reached.
What’s Included?
We provide both bunk and twin beds to children who have no bed, beds that are broken, children who are sharing beds with multiple brothers/sisters or with their parents.
All beds delivered include bed, mattress, fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillowcase, two pillows, pillow sham and a comforter.
Beds are delivered and set up in the recipient’s home.
Bed frames are hand made and delivered by Neighbors Helping Neighbors in partnership with the Mission Team from The First Methodist Church of Greensboro-Lake Oconee.
